FREQUENTLY ASKED RENTAL QUESTIONS

A. Slide Projectors

Can you use a wireless remote with a slide projector?
Yes-you must order that separately. Make sure the power from the slide projector is plugged into the wireless remote box.

How far does my slide projector need to be from the screen?
There are lots of different lenses that can be used for wide angle shot ex-1.4 or 2" will allow you to be only feet away from an 8' screen. If you use a 10" or 12" lens you can be as far as feet away.

Can the slides advance on their own?
Yes there is a timer on the front of some projectors that allows the slides to advance at a stable rate.

When using the wireless remote how does the projector turn on?
First make sure the projector is plugged in to the remote control unit. Turn the projector's power source all the way on and push the two middle buttons simultaneously and the light will come on. Some remotes have a single on/off power button.

Why can I see a light inside the slide projector but not on the screen?
The gate is closed until the first slide is dropped, then the light image will project onto the screen.

B. Overhead Projectors

Why is there a fog around my image?
There is a button on the top of the overhead that when it is turned it will clear up the
image.

My bulb blew out, how do I handle changing it?
Most projectors have a spare bulb built in, make sure you turn the power off and slide the lever to position 2. If not allow the projector to cool and then replace the lamp with the same type of bulb. Remember to never touch the glass bulb itself with bare hands because your skin oils can cause the bulb to explode the next time it is turned on.

I need some more bulbs for my overhead, what kind do I need?
There are three letters on each bulb ex ENX, FXL, FNT etc., or look in the projector manual.

I need to have some lights on in the room do you have a brighter overhead projector?
Yes they are refereed to as hi-intensity overheads. There are several intensities to choose from. The standard overhead is 3K lumens.

I am using a hi-intensity overhead I can see the light but only on the ceiling. Is it broken?
First you must pull the power cord out so the internal mirror will drop down. If
that unit doesn't drop all the way it will be showing on the ceiling.

Can I plug my computer right into my overhead?
No you need to have either an LCD panel or LCD projector (i.e.: see LCD Projectors)

C. Audio

I am using a wireless mic unit and I am picking up a radio type of signal how do I stop that noise?
First see if there are any type of radio's or something like that on in the area. If not check the power on the mic itself, make sure power is on. If you still experience the problem you may need a mic that uses a different frequency.

What do I need to order if I am using a wireless mic system?
You would need some type of sound system either in-house or separate to project your microphone sound.

I am not getting any sound out of my lavaliere, I have my power and mute on?
A lot of people think the mute should be on, but you are muting with it on, simply turn the mute to off.

Can more than one wireless mic be used in a room at one time?
They can but you would have to make sure they utilize different frequencies.

Where is the best place to put on my Lav mic?
Usually it is best to get it as close to your throat as possible. This will give you the best sound with the least possibility of feedback.

D. General

I will be projecting with several different AV sources but I don't want all that equipment to be showing what do you suggest?
As long as you have enough space you can go with a rear screen which puts all the equipment out of sight. As a rule, you would need a distance of 1.5 times the width of the screen behind the screen.

When showing projection from behind wouldn't the images show up backwards?
Yes, with each different type of projection you would have to flip the slide or transparency. If you are using a video projector you would put the projector into the rear mode.

Do you have different size screens?
Yes we have all types of screens. Our most widely used are 6' tripod, 8' tripod,9X12 fastfold and10.5X14. It's important to state how many people will be viewing the screen and how high your ceilings are at your function.

The last time I projected onto a screen it didn't fit correctly, why is that?
Remember when showing a slide show the slides are square and some screens are in a video format which is three by four. For ex 6X8 or 9X12. Some screens would be 70X70 or 96X96.
